baldwin babes are better
hi everyone! i finally decided to get a livejournal account so i could keep in touch with you fine people! yay! so i hope everyone's been having a fabulous summer, i know i have. for those of you who don't know, i spent the month of june on an archaeological dig in Belize, and it was the experience of a lifetime. we stayed in a field camp on a dirt road in the middle of unexpolored jungle about 2 hours away from the nearest town. no hot water, no phone, and no internet. (talk about roughing it!) but it was a ton of fun, i met lots of cool people from all over, AND i learned how to use a machete! how cool is that? the last 5 days we spent traveling around. we went to tikal, which is a major maya site in guatemala, and we spent the last 3 days on caye caulker, which is an island off the coast of belize. we even went snorkling on the barrier reef with sharks and sting rays! i put up some pictures from my trip on facebook if you want to see them. the week after i got back my family spent a week in martha's vineyard, which was nice and relaxing. it was good to spend some time with them after being away for so long with almost no communication. although, i must say i felt a little out of my element surrounded by wasps with popped collars after spending a month in the jungle covered in mud, bathing in deet, and wearing snake guards on my legs and a bandana on my head. oh well, i think i've readjusted to civilization since then. i've spent the last 2 weeks interning in the marketing department at data management, inc., where my dad works. turns out i'm technically working for my dad since his boss got promoted, which has taken some getting used to, but i'll get over it. hope i haven't bored you all to tears with this long entry, and i can't wait to see most of you back at baldwin!
